Academic & Career Planning

Students at Williams Bay School District graduate with a comprehensive Academic & Career Plan (ACP) based upon their interests, strengths and individual educational plan. The purpose of this program is to encourage students to display academic work, discover their strengths, set meaningful achievement goals, and understand the relationship between academic achievement in middle/high school and post-secondary career and educational opportunities. The goal of the program is to produce responsible Williams Bay graduates who will begin their adult life with the knowledge, skills, motivation and a self-directed plan for career and lifelong success.

What is ACP?

ACP stands for “Academic and Career Planning, and is a student driven and adult-supported process where students create their own unique and information-based visions for post secondary success. This is obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.  ACP is more about the process than it is about the plan, as students may find that their plans change throughout their middle and high school careers.”
(Wisconsin Department of Instruction, PI-26).

An internet-based, electronic program called Xello is used to organize and manage information for the Career & Academic Program. WBSD students use their account when applying for local & area scholarships in the spring, to support college applications, state & national scholarship applications, applications for employment, and for membership in organizations such organizations as National Honor Society and various clubs.
