Testing

Testing for academic progress and comprehension is administered throughout the school year for all students. Depending on your grade level, these tests will help students and parents gauge academic potential and career goals during middle and high school planning.

State Testing

ACT

ACT is an assessment that measures what students have learned in the areas of: English, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing. It is required for college entrance.

  • Grade 11 (state test requirement)

ASPIRE

ACT Aspire Early High School is an assessment that measures what students have learned in the areas of: English, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing. The Aspire Exam is administered online each school year at:

  • Grades 9 and 10

FORWARD

The Forward Exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. The Forward Exam is administered online in the spring of each school year at:

  • Grades 3-8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics

  • Grades 4 and 8 in Science

  • Grades 4, 8, and 10 in Social Studies

WorkKeys

The WorkKeys Assessments measure foundational skills required for success in the workplace, and help measure the workplace skills that can affect job performance. The assessment is administered each school year at:

MAP (Measure of Academic Progress)

MAP assessments are computer adaptive achievement tests in Mathematics and Reading. MAP is a norm-referenced measure of student growth over time. MAP assessments, joined with other data points, provide detailed, actionable data about where each child is on his or her unique learning path. MAP assessments differ from other data sources used by the HCPSS to inform instruction by being nationally normed, by tracking student progress throughout a year and across school years, and by being linked to software tools which can assist teachers and administrators in planning instruction.

AP (Advanced Placement)

AP courses are rigorous, college-level classes in a variety of subjects that give students an opportunity to gain the skills and experience colleges recognize.  AP Exams are administered in May of each school year.

PSAT Test

The (PSAT/NMSQT) is designed to measure the ability to understand and process elements of reading, writing, and mathematics.  Considered to be a preliminary SAT, the PSAT test gives students a sense of the format, question types, content, and time limits that they will encounter on the SAT. Additionally, the PSAT test serves as a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program.  This exam is has one National test date in October of every year.
